Samso's Energy Transition Project
Samso's Energy Transition Project is a community-led initiative in Denmark where the island shifted from relying on fossil fuels to become fully powered by renewable energy sources, mainly wind and solar power. Local residents actively invested in and supported the project, enabling the island to produce more energy than it consumes, with excess electricity shared or sold. This transition fostered energy independence, reduced carbon emissions, and strengthened local economy. The project demonstrates how collective effort and community engagement can successfully implement sustainable energy solutions on a local scale.
