Samoan Society

Samoan society is traditionally organized around a communal system called "fa'a Samoa," emphasizing family, authority, and respect. It features a hierarchical structure with chiefs (matai) who hold authority over extended families (aiga). Social roles are clearly defined, with strong emphasis on elders, community cohesion, and collective decision-making. The culture values rituals, language, and customs that foster unity and identity. While modern influences have integrated into the society, these traditional structures continue to play a vital role in shaping social interactions and governance in Samoa.
