Sambandar was a revered 7th-century Tamil saint and poet, renowned for his devotion to Lord Shiva. He is one of the most prominent Nayanars, a group of devotional poets who celebrated Shiva through literature and hymns. Orphaned early, he showed extraordinary spiritual fervor, composing many devotional songs that are central to Tamil Shaivism.
