Salyut stations

Salyut stations were a series of Soviet space stations launched between 1971 and 1986, serving as pioneering platforms for human spaceflight, science, and technology experiments. They orbit Earth, allowing cosmonauts to conduct research in microgravity, test new spacecraft systems, and prepare for longer missions. Each station was modular, with modules for living, working, and experiments, and some supported crewed missions lasting several months. The Salyut program laid the groundwork for larger space stations like Mir and contributed significantly to our understanding of living and working in space.
