Salutary Neglect
Salutary Neglect was an unofficial British policy from the early 1700s until the mid-1700s, where the colonies in North America were allowed to govern themselves with minimal interference from Britain. The British government focused less on strict enforcement of trade laws and regulations, trusting the colonies to manage their own affairs. This approach fostered economic growth and a sense of independence among the colonists. However, it also led to increasing dissatisfaction when Britain later tried to tighten control, contributing to tensions that eventually sparked the American Revolution.
