SALT (Sort, Assess, Life-saving interventions, Treatment/transport)
SALT is a systematic approach used by emergency responders to quickly evaluate and treat trauma patients. It involves four steps: First, *Sort* patients based on injury severity to prioritize care. Next, *Assess* their airway, breathing, circulation, and neurological status to identify immediate threats. Then, perform *Life-saving interventions* like controlling bleeding or opening airways to stabilize vital functions. Finally, *Treat/Transport* patients efficiently—providing necessary care during transport or preparing them for transfer to advanced medical facilities. SALT ensures rapid decision-making and effective use of resources to improve survival outcomes in emergencies.
