Salivary Gland Biopsy

A salivary gland biopsy is a medical procedure where a small tissue sample is taken from your salivary glands, which are responsible for producing saliva. This is usually done to diagnose the cause of symptoms like swelling, pain, or unexplained growths in the face or mouth. The procedure can be performed using a fine needle to extract tissue (fine-needle aspiration) or by surgically removing a tiny piece of the gland. The tissue sample is then examined under a microscope to identify infections, tumors, or other conditions affecting the salivary glands.
