Salic Law

Salic Law is a historical legal principle originating in medieval Europe, primarily used to determine succession to royal or noble titles. It states that inheritance cannot be passed through the female line, meaning women cannot inherit land or titles, nor can their descendants claim them. Instead, inheritance moves through male members of the family, often passing from father to son. This law was employed to limit the inheritance rights of women and stabilize succession, affecting political and territorial claims, notably influencing how monarchies in France and other countries organized royal succession.
