Salang Pass
Salang Pass is a high mountain route in Afghanistan and Pakistan, connecting the capital city of Kabul with the northern city of Tashkent. Situated at an elevation of about 3,400 meters (11,200 feet), it is one of the most important and challenging roads in the region due to its rugged terrain, heavy snowfall, and risk of avalanches. Historically, it has served as a vital trade and military route, often difficult to access in winter. Today, Salang Pass remains a strategic link for transportation and logistics between northern Afghanistan and the rest of the country, despite often harsh weather conditions.
