Salah al-Din's biography

Salah al-Din, also known as Saladin, was a 12th-century Muslim military leader and sultan who founded the Ayyubid dynasty. Born in 1137 in Tikrit (modern-day Iraq), he rose to prominence through his leadership during the Crusades, notably recapturing Jerusalem in 1187 from the Crusaders. Known for his chivalry, strategic skill, and religious tolerance, Saladin united various Muslim territories and defended them against European invaders. His governance fostered stability, and he remains a celebrated figure in Middle Eastern history for his military prowess and efforts to bridge cultural differences. He died in 1193, leaving a lasting legacy.
