Sakarya Battle (WWI)
The Battle of Sakarya, fought during World War I from August to September 1916, was a significant conflict between the Ottoman Empire and the invading Allied forces, mainly from Britain and France. It took place near the Sakarya River in present-day Turkey. The Ottomans successfully defended their territory in a prolonged and intense battle, halting the Allies' advance into Anatolia. This victory boosted Ottoman morale and was a turning point, helping the Ottoman Empire recover from earlier defeats and eventually contributing to their wider resistance during the war.
