Saint Alphonsus Liguori was an 18th-century Italian Catholic bishop, theologian, and founder of the Redemptorist congregation. Renowned for his charitable work and writings, he emphasized compassion, moral guidance, and the importance of faith and prayer in daily life. His teachings focused on understanding God’s mercy and the need for genuine humility. Liguori is also recognized for his influential writings on spiritual life, many of which remain important in Catholic theology. Canonized in 1839, he is considered a model of pastoral care, dedicated to helping others grow closer to God through love, prayer, and service.
