Saint Kliment of Ohrid was a medieval Bulgarian scholar, theologian, and educator who lived in the 9th and 10th centuries. He played a key role in developing the Cyrillic alphabet and promoting literacy, religion, and cultural identity among the Slavic peoples. As a disciple of Saints Cyril and Methodius, he helped spread Christianity and education in the Balkans, particularly in present-day North Macedonia and Bulgaria. He founded the Ohrid Literary School, which became a significant center for medieval Slavic culture. Revered as a saint, Kliment is celebrated for his contributions to Slavic literacy, church reforms, and cultural preservation.
