Saint James the Greater

Saint James the Greater was one of Jesus Christ’s twelve apostles and a prominent early Christian leader. Known for his zeal and devotion, he traveled extensively to spread Christianity after Jesus’s death, including to Spain. He’s often called "the Greater" to distinguish him from another apostle named James. According to tradition, he was the first apostle to be martyred for his faith, around 44 AD. He is also associated with the pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where his remains are believed to be buried. Saint James is celebrated as the patron saint of Spain and pilgrims.
