Sahyadri mountain range
The Sahyadri mountain range, also known as the Western Ghats, runs parallel to the western coast of India, stretching approximately 1,600 kilometers through Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. These mountains are characterized by lush greenery, rugged terrain, and high peaks, forming a vital ecological corridor that supports diverse flora and fauna. They influence the region’s climate by causing monsoon rains, which sustain agriculture and ecosystems. The range is also dotted with valleys, waterfalls, and ancient forts, making it an important cultural and natural landmark contributing to India's biodiversity and water resources.
