Sahrawi refugee camps

Sahrawi refugee camps are temporary settlements in Western Sahara, established for people displaced by ongoing conflict between the Sahrawi people and Morocco. These camps, located mainly in Algeria’s Tindouf Province, provide shelter, healthcare, and education for thousands of Sahrawi refugees. Governed by the Polisario Front, which seeks independence for Western Sahara, the camps function as a form of self-managed community amid unresolved political disputes. While they offer essential services, they also symbolically represent the unresolved struggle for Sahrawi self-determination and independence.
