Sahrawi People

The Sahrawi people are an indigenous Berber-speaking ethnic group native to Western Sahara, a region in North Africa. They have a distinct cultural identity and history of nomadic pastoralism. Since the conflict over Western Sahara’s sovereignty, many Sahrawi are refugees or live in exile, primarily in neighboring countries like Algeria and Mauritania. They are represented politically by the Polisario Front, which seeks independence for Western Sahara. The Sahrawi people's identity is rooted in their desert heritage, social customs, and aspirations for self-determination amid ongoing territorial disputes.
