SAHA (Suberoylanilide Hydroxamic Acid)

SAHA, also known as Suberoylanilide Hydroxamic Acid or vorinostat, is a drug that works by influencing how genes are turned on or off in our cells. It inhibites enzymes called histone deacetylases (HDACs), which normally tighten DNA packaging and limit gene expression. By blocking HDACs, SAHA helps certain genes become more active, which can slow down or stop the growth of cancer cells and promote their death. It is primarily used as a treatment for specific types of lymphoma, aiming to restore normal cell functions and inhibit cancer progression.
