Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy
The Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy is a small galaxy orbiting our Milky Way. It is an elliptical-shaped galaxy, meaning its stars are spread out in an elongated form rather than a flat disk. Discovered in 1994, it is one of our galaxy’s satellite galaxies, gradually being pulled apart and absorbed by the Milky Way’s gravity. Despite its small size, it contains stars, gas, and dark matter. Studying such galaxy helps scientists understand galaxy formation and how larger galaxies grow by merging with smaller ones.
