SAE Level 2 Automation
SAE Level 2 automation refers to a system in which a vehicle can control both steering and acceleration/deceleration simultaneously, but the driver must remain engaged at all times. This means the car can handle tasks like maintaining speed and staying in the lane without constant driver input, yet the driver is still responsible for monitoring the environment and can take over immediately if needed. Examples of Level 2 features include adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, offering a higher level of convenience while still requiring full driver awareness and readiness to intervene.
