Saddle Bronc Riding

Saddle Bronc Riding is a rodeo event where the rider, using a specialized saddle without stirrups, attempts to stay mounted on a bucking horse called a bronc. The rider grips a rein tied to the horse’s halter with one hand, while the other arm remains free. The goal is to maintain balance and rhythm, mimicking a cowboy’s skill in controlling a wild horse, for a designated time, usually eight seconds. Judges score based on the rider’s control, style, and the horse’s bucking performance. It tests strength, agility, and horsemanship in a competitive and exhilarating setting.
