Sacrocolpopexy
Sacrocolpopexy is a surgical procedure used to treat pelvic organ prolapse, where the top of the vagina drops due to weakened support tissues. The surgery involves attaching the top of the vagina or cervix to the sacrum (the lower part of the spine) using a piece of synthetic mesh or tissue. This approach provides added support, helping restore normal anatomy and function. Sacrocolpopexy is often performed minimally invasively with laparoscopic or robotic techniques, generally resulting in improved durability of the support and reduced recurrence of prolapse.
