Sacred Cenote

The Sacred Cenote is a natural sinkhole located at the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza in Mexico. This circular limestone depression was considered a sacred site by the Maya civilization, serving as a ceremonial site and ritual reservoir. It was used for offerings, religious sacrifices, and as a symbolic connection between the earthly and spiritual worlds. Water from the cenote collected rain, creating a natural pool.
