SA (Sturmabteilung)

The Sturmabteilung (SA), also known as the Brownshirts, was a paramilitary organization founded in the early 1920s by the Nazi Party in Germany. They served as a street-fighting force and political intimidation group, helping Adolf Hitler rise to power by disrupting opponents and protecting Nazi meetings. The SA was known for its brown uniforms and violence, playing a key role in rallying Nazi support. Over time, their power declined, especially after the Night of the Long Knives in 1934, when many SA leaders were purged to solidify Hitler’s control and shift towards a more centralized and disciplined military structure.
