Sōjitz Corporation was a Japanese trading company involved in a wide range of industries, including textiles, machinery, chemicals, and infrastructure. As a "sōgō shōsha" or general trading company, it acted as an intermediary, facilitating international trade and investment for various sectors, leveraging its global network and expertise. Established in 1890, it played a key role in Japan’s economic development by connecting Japanese industries with global markets. In 2003, Sōjitz merged with Mitsui & Co., becoming part of one of Japan’s largest and most diversified trading conglomerates.
