S-3 Viking

The S-3 Viking was a naval aircraft designed for anti-submarine warfare, introduced by the U.S. Navy in the 1960s. It was a carrier-based, twin-engine plane known for its ability to locate and track enemy submarines using advanced sonar and radar technology. The Viking could also conduct reconnaissance and electronic warfare missions. With a distinctive design featuring a large, retractable tailhook for landing on aircraft carriers, the S-3 played a significant role in Cold War naval operations until it was retired in the early 2000s, replaced by more advanced surveillance aircraft.
