S-21 Prison (Tuol Sleng)
S-21 Prison, also known as Tuol Sleng, was a notorious detention center in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979). Originally a high school, it was converted into a security prison where thousands of people were imprisoned, interrogated, and often executed under brutal conditions. The regime targeted perceived enemies of the state, including intellectuals, professionals, and students. Today, Tuol Sleng serves as a museum and memorial, symbolizing the horrors of forced confessions, mass atrocities, and the importance of justice and human rights remembrance.
