Rydberg atoms
Rydberg atoms are atoms in which an electron is excited to a very high energy level, far from the nucleus. This results in a large atom with unique properties, such as exaggerated size and strong interactions with other atoms or electromagnetic fields. Because of their sensitivity and size, Rydberg atoms are valuable in advanced research, including quantum computing and studying fundamental physics. Despite their size, they behave like normal atoms, but their unique features emerge from the electron’s high energy state.
