Rwanda Tribunal (International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda)

The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) was established by the United Nations in 1994 to prosecute individuals responsible for serious crimes during the Rwandan genocide, such as genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. Its goal was to deliver justice, promote accountability, and help prevent future atrocities. The ICTR operated until 2015, holding trials in Arusha, Tanzania, and contributed significantly to international criminal law by setting precedents and strengthening the global judicial response to mass atrocities.
