Rwanda Tribunal

The Rwanda Tribunal, officially known as the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), was an international court established in 1994 to prosecute individuals responsible for the Rwandan Genocide and related crimes. It aimed to deliver justice for atrocities committed during the genocide, where approximately 800,000 people were killed in about three months. The tribunal operated independently from Rwanda but worked closely with the country's judicial systems. It sentenced those found guilty of serious crimes like genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes, helping promote accountability and support reconciliation efforts in Rwanda.
