Russian Venera program
The Russian Venera program was a series of space missions launched by the Soviet Union from 1961 to 1983, focused on exploring Venus. It aimed to study the planet’s atmosphere, surface, and climate, providing valuable data on its extreme greenhouse effect and volcanic landscape. Venera spacecraft were among the first to land on another planet and send back images and scientific information. The program advanced understanding of Venus and demonstrated Soviet engineering in space exploration, contributing significantly to planetary science and paving the way for future missions to our neighboring planet.
