Rurikids
The Rurikids were a dynasty that ruled parts of Eastern Europe, particularly Russia, from the late 9th century until the early 17th century. Founded by Rurik, a Varangian prince, the dynasty played a key role in the formation of the Kievan Rus', a federation of Slavic tribes. They were known for fostering the development of a unified Russian state and influencing culture, law, and politics. The Rurikids gradually lost power and influence, leading to the Time of Troubles in the early 1600s, after which the Romanov dynasty succeeded them. Their legacy continues to shape Russian history.
