Rural and Urban Health Disparities

Rural and urban health disparities refer to the differences in health outcomes and access to healthcare services between people living in rural (country or remote) areas and those in urban (city) settings. Rural areas often face challenges like fewer healthcare providers, longer travel distances, and limited facilities, leading to poorer health outcomes. In contrast, urban areas may have better access to healthcare but can still struggle with issues like overcrowding and environmental pollutants. These disparities contribute to health inequalities, where people’s health is unfairly affected by where they live, their socioeconomic status, and available resources.
