Run-of-the-river hydropower
Run-of-the-river hydropower is a method of generating electricity by using the natural flow of a river. It doesn’t require large dams or reservoirs; instead, it diverts part of the river’s water through a channel or pipe to spin turbines that produce electricity. As the water continues its journey downstream, the river’s flow remains mostly unaffected, making this approach environmentally less disruptive. This type of hydropower is suitable for locations with a steady water flow and can provide clean, renewable energy with minimal impact on ecosystems.
