Ruminant Grazing

Ruminant grazing refers to how animals like cows, sheep, and goats feed on grasses and plants. These animals have a specialized stomach system with four compartments, allowing them to efficiently digest tough plant fibers. They chew and swallow vegetation, then regurgitate and re-chew it as 'cud' to break down complex fibers. This process enables them to extract nutrients from coarse plant material that many other animals cannot efficiently digest. Ruminant grazing plays a vital role in ecosystems by managing vegetation and recycling nutrients, while providing us with products like meat, milk, and leather.
