Rule 56 (summary judgment)
Rule 56 is a legal rule that allows a court to decide a case without a full trial if one side shows there are no important facts in dispute and they are entitled to win based on the law. This is called summary judgment. Essentially, it’s a way to resolve cases quickly when the facts are clear or the evidence is overwhelming, saving time and resources for both parties and the court. If the evidence doesn’t establish a key point, the case can be dismissed before trial.
