Ruddigore

Ruddigore is a comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan that humorously parodies Victorian melodramas and gothic stories. It follows the story of Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd and his descendants, who are cursed to commit a crime each day to keep their family ghost at bay. When a skeptical heir, Robin Oakapple, unexpectedly inherits the title and curse, comedic chaos ensues as he tries to escape his supposed fate. The opera combines witty lyrics, satirical commentary, and engaging music to explore themes of identity, tradition, and the absurdity of inherited guilt.
