RS Canum Venaticorum
RS Canum Venaticorum is a type of binary star system consisting of two stars orbiting each other closely. One is typically a main-sequence star similar to the Sun, while the other is often a cooler, more active star with strong magnetic activity. These systems are known for their intense stellar activity, including large starspots (similar to sunspots but much bigger), frequent solar flares, and variable brightness. This variability is caused by magnetic interactions between the stars. RS CVn systems are valuable for studying stellar magnetic activity and how it evolves over time.
