Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve

The Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR) was a reserve force of civilian volunteers who trained to support the Royal Navy. Established in 1903, its members were often professionals and amateurs who could be called upon during wartime for various roles, including patrols, communications, and support duties. The RNVR provided additional manpower while allowing civilians to maintain their careers. It played significant roles during World War I and II. In 1958, it was renamed the Royal Naval Reserve, continuing as the trained volunteer force supporting the Royal Navy's operational needs today.
