Royal Italian Army

The Royal Italian Army, known as "Regio Esercito," was Italy's land force from 1861 until 1946, before the country became a republic. It was responsible for Italy's military operations on land, including defending borders, participating in wars such as World War I and World War II, and maintaining national security. The army included infantry, artillery, cavalry, and later, modern armored divisions. It played a key role in Italy's military efforts but also faced challenges like modernization and political pressures. After 1946, it was replaced by the Italian Army of the Italian Republic.
