Royal Hospital for Seamen
The Royal Hospital for Seamen was established in Greenwich, London, in 1712 to provide medical care and support for injured or ill sailors, especially those who served in the Royal Navy. It functioned as both a hospital and a home for retired seamen, offering healthcare, accommodation, and social assistance. The hospital, designed by architect Sir Christopher Wren, is a notable example of early 18th-century architecture. Today, it is known as the Old Royal Naval College, serving as a historic site, educational center, and cultural attraction, reflecting maritime history and the care historically provided to seafarers.
