Rotterdam Score

The Rotterdam Score is a tool used by doctors to assess the severity of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and predict a patient’s chances of survival. It considers three key factors seen in brain scans: age, the level of brain swelling or bleeding, and the condition of brain activity. By assigning points to these factors, the score helps doctors estimate the likelihood of a good or poor outcome, guiding treatment decisions and family discussions. A higher Rotterdam Score indicates more severe injury and a lower chance of recovery.
