Rotary Engine
A rotary engine, also known as a Wankel engine, is an internal combustion engine that uses a spinning triangular rotor instead of traditional pistons. Inside a specially shaped chamber, the rotor turns continuously, creating chambers that change size to draw in fuel-air mixture, compress it, ignite the mixture, and expel exhaust gases. This design results in smooth, compact operation with fewer moving parts compared to conventional engines. Rotary engines are valued for their high power-to-weight ratio and simplicity, but they can have higher fuel consumption and emissions. They are used in some sports cars, aircraft, and certain industrial applications.
