Rosecrans' Maneuver
Rosecrans' Maneuver was a military strategy used during the Battle of Stones River in the American Civil War. General Rosecrans arranged his Union forces in a way that allowed him to present a strong, united front initially, luring the Confederate army into a position of overconfidence. Once engaged, Rosecrans was able to shift his forces to strike the Confederate flanks and rear, weakening their position. This maneuver capitalized on the terrain and timing to outflank and inflict significant casualties on the Confederates, ultimately leading to a Union tactical and strategic victory.
