Roosters
Roosters are male chickens known for their distinctive crowing, which often signals dawn but can occur throughout the day. They play a vital role in the flock by protecting hens from predators, establishing dominance, and aiding in breeding. Roosters have bright, colorful plumage and a prominent comb and wattles. Their crowing serves social and territorial functions, helping to communicate with other roosters and hens. While valuable for breeding and flock security, they are not necessary for egg production, which is carried out by hens regardless of the presence of a rooster.
