Roosevelt Corollary

The Roosevelt Corollary, announced by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1904, was an extension of the Monroe Doctrine. It stated that the United States had the right to intervene in Latin American countries if they experienced instability or debt problems that could threaten stability or invite European intervention. Essentially, the U.S. would act as a police power to maintain order and protect its interests in the Western Hemisphere, asserting its influence to prevent European countries from involving themselves in regional issues. This policy emphasized U.S. intervention as a way to maintain stability and prevent foreign interference.
