Rook
A rook is a chess piece that moves any number of squares along a row or column, making it highly effective for controlling large areas of the board. It is represented as a stylized castle or tower. Rooks are especially valuable in endgames, where their ability to swiftly shift across the board helps in attacking or defending. Each player starts with two rooks, placed on the corners. They also participate in a special move called castling with the king, which helps safeguard the king and activate the rook. Rooks are powerful tools for strategic positioning and controlling the game.
