Rommel's Africa Korps
The Afrika Korps was the German military force led by General Erwin Rommel during World War II's North African Campaign (1941-1943). It consisted of tanks, infantry, and supply units sent to support Italy's efforts in North Africa. Rommel's *Afrika Korps* became known for its swift, agile tactics and effective desert warfare, challenging Allied forces like Britain and the United States. Despite initial successes, they faced supply shortages and ultimately were defeated after prolonged battles, notably at El Alamein. The Afrika Korps symbolized Germany's effort to control North Africa and access Middle Eastern resources during the war.
