Romansh

Romansh is a Romance language spoken primarily in the south of Switzerland, particularly in the canton of Graubünden. It descended from Latin, like Italian, French, and Spanish, and has several dialects. Romansh is unique as it reflects the region's cultural history, blending influences from nearby languages. While it is one of Switzerland's four national languages, its number of speakers is relatively small. Efforts have been made to standardize the language and promote its use, especially in education and media, to preserve its heritage and encourage its continued viability in a predominantly German-speaking country.
