Romanian People's Army
The Romanian People's Army was the military force of Romania during the communist era, from 1947 to 1989. It was established to defend the country and support communist government policies, aligning closely with the Soviet Union. The army included ground forces, navy, and air force, and was tasked with national defense, maintaining internal order, and participating in regional and international military collaborations. After the fall of communism, the army was restructured, renamed, and integrated into NATO’s defensive framework, evolving into Romania’s modern armed forces focused on national security, peacekeeping, and international cooperation.
